Check List - Jakarta Trip

Counting the days..excited nak berlibur ke Jakarta sama Linda. First time girl's trip & dapat lesen besar dari bos masing2. Haish..kalu la korang yang lain dapat join sekaki kan lagi besh?

List to do:
1) Renew passport
Konon tunggu dkt2 hari nak berlepas baru nak renew, sekali tu Imegresen tukar system & new requirement utk gambar passport. Effective 22/4/13..huhuh...baru nak mengelat pakai gambar lama.

Background gambar kaler putih, yang bertudung wajib kaler gelap, lelaki pakai coat hitam kalu nak selamat. Full details click: New Passport Specification

Renew kat UTC Pudu Sentral, elok le ada kedai apek kt situ. Full house orang que kt kedai sekangkang kera dia.

Siap gambar, naik ke Imegresen untuk submit. Cuak jugak kalu kena reject pasal dengar orang kt kedai gambar tadi ngomel2 photo reject, sampaikan dua kali amek gambar baru. Lepas ditilik2 oleh officer, lepas la gambar baru saya itu.Pheww.
Tunggu turn nak bayar pon lama, lebih setengah jam baru settle kat sini. Itu pun passport siap the next day.

Moral of the story : Jangan delay nak renew..Paling lambat pon 1 week before nak berlepas.

2) Itenary
Berpinar En Google duk cari info Jakarta, almaklum la..first time nak jejak bumi Soeharto ni. Linda ada gak bagi info based on experience datang kerja sebelum ni. Nak susun itenary ke tempat yang we all aim & ikut logistik..Jakarta memang famous dengan traffic jam, kalah KL. Ngeri wehh..Dengan bantuan Street Directory. we all list down places to go & akan redah area yang berdekatan pada hari yg sama

Tips : Plan ke mana tempat nak tuju, survey jarak jauh tempat2 yg nak pegi, jimat masa nak menapak satu tempat ke tempat yg lain. How i wish Jakarta ada MRT, senang tak ribut2 pikir traffic jam.

3) Hotel
Book 2 stars Hotel Amaris, nampak ok je, baru & bersih. Takat untuk balik tidur/mandi dah good enough. Colleague Linda suggest hotel ni, dekat dgn Pasar Mayestik & Plaza Blok M. Kalu tersekat traffic jam, kami jalan kaki saja lah.
Tips : Survey hotel kat Agoda , depends on budget, nearby attraction places & review on hotel.

4) Money changer
Tukar Rupiah. Favourite tempat tukar yg dapat rate bagus punya kat Ampang Park (kedai belakang yg sebelah book store) & Masjid India (dekat2 Jakel)

Tips : Survey money changer yg bagi best rate. Cher kautim dengan tukang jaga tu.

5) Rupiah Converter Sheet
Gabra nak jadi jutawan ni..Dah ler 'calculator bergerak' tak ikut skali, juling mata nak kira rupiah sendiri nanti. Plan asal nk bawak calculator satu..Pastu dapat tips from RM buatkan terus converter sheet. Thank you RM! Kalu tak jenuh nak tekan calculator depan tuan kedai:)

Rupiah -RM, RM-Rupiah

6) Beg Beranak
Konsep dalam beg ada beg!
Mak aih...byk la pulak beg,nak borong satu bandar ke apa ni?
Beg 1 & 2 - Luggage & Hand Luggage : Standard bawak utk travel
Beg 3 - Knapsack : Apa2 hasil tangkapan,sumbat je sini
Beg 4 - Ni beg warisan. Dah merata dia berjalan..Standby je.. kot la terborong luar kawalan...

Tag luggage dengan kain/riben striking. Ada lah org penah gelak tengok tu, tak kisahlah.it helps. Sebatu lagi dah cam it beg saya yang punyaa...

Tips : Arwah nenek saya pesan bila nak start packing, tulis & baca ayat 9- Surah Yassin & simpan dalam beg. Insyallah barang2 terjaga elok & tak hilang.

7) Kasut
Pakai footware yg selesa - mesti nak pakai banyak muscle kaki, jalan berkilo2 meter sehari..

8) Vitamins
Selain daily vitamins intake, biasanya bawak Pharmation time travel. Untuk kasi extra energy & kurang penat.

9) Book Spa

Looking forward for self pamper - massage, lulur & sewaktu dengan nya. Set appointment awal2 kot spa penuh time weekend.

10)International Plug Adapter

Tips : Wajib bawak! Kang ada yg lost contact dgn org KL, bateri handphone flat punya pasal.

11) Airport Tax
Put aside Rp150,000 utk bayar airport tax bila nak balik KL.

but but not least.....

rekod cerita kat Astro Beyond! Ahaks....penting tu nak qada' bila balik nanti..

Ready to go..babai korang..Doa we all selamat semuanya & smooth journey.

Bismillahirrahmanirahim....

Sweet Indulgence ~ The Chocolate Dipped Oreo

Ladies, masih ingat lagi oreo choc Deena yang sedap bangat ni? Kudos Deena..ni dah jadik ko punya warisan 7 keturunan nih :)
Dah boleh masuk list utk party or kenduri ni. Ralit makan, lagi2 kalu dapat kat hantu coklat, mmg sah tak cukup seketul kan.
Caranya senang je tapi kalau banyak ketul buat, skill sabar kena ada juga.

Bahan nya:
i) Choc bar. Ikut tips Chef Dewi, pakai Beryl's Chocolate Compound dijamin sedap. Bagus bakery ada jual brand ni. Lagi satu jangan amik yg nak expired nanti bau tengit.

ii) Choc Mould
iii) Biskut Oreo
iv) Edible image -utk deco
Cara nya:

Susun edible image dalam choc mould. Image face down.
Double boil choc bar & lepas tu sapukan choc  sikit atas edible image.
Susun oreo atas choc yg dah disapu tadi
Lepas tu sapu lagi choc atas oreo
Ratakan choc sampai cover habis & tutup lapisan oreo

Masuk dalam frige sekejap. Agak2 dah keras, boleh bawak keluar fridge & keluarkan coklat dari mould. Dah siappp!

Ready to be served...

First attempt from Linda...dap dappp

A scent of heaven with Les Colognes, Annick Goutal

Being a fanatic of the top 10 most expensive perfumes in the world - Annick Goutal, Linda was super excited when she received their invitation to celebrate the launch of AG's new Les Colognes collection. On top of that, Camille (daughter of late Annick & current boss of the brand now) will be there too.

Since Linda want me to join her, why not to follow? *blink blink.
Here we go...
The entrance
Before the event started :

That's Camille giving the speech

Les Colognes consists of 3 existing fragrances - Eau d’Hadrien, Vétiver and Néroli and the scents can last up to 8 hours. The new packaging comes with larger bottle for 200ml, simple design with gold cap and white label of 'Annick Goutal'.
Eau d'Hadrien, Vetiver & Neroli

Among these 3, i'd choose Hadrien the best. Hopst..doesn't mean that i'm into it already yeah. Our one & only shopaholic Linda can't resist to grab one! Hahaa..Close your eyes and swipe for RM785.
What makes it more worthy --> Camille exclusively signed on the bottle!
Hungry tummy call..and these was what we had. The macarons were so fine, tasty and not too sweet. I almost finished the whole plate!..hihihihihi...
Us -before leaving.

Well, i still prefer the existing packaging, more feminine and exclusive look. Annick Goutal carries more than 20 range of perfumes and there are stories behind each fragrance created. Check AG Fragrances to know further. One of the famous scent is Petite Cherie which was specially created for Camille in 1998 from her late mother which means Little Darling.

p/s: Linda...welcoming anytime of your 'let go' AG..

Adios...~Yz~

10 minutes Mushroom Soup

My dearest bffs,

Here's the mushroom soup recipe I've promised to share ~ finally! I've simplified the ingredients to those that are available in our pantry most of the time.  This recipe feed approximately 5 people and cost less than RM10.  I promise, it won't take more than 10 minutes...and most importantly, it taste so much better than the canned ones.

You'll need:
1 bowl (15-20 pcs) Shitake or button mushroom - sliced
1 small clove of garlic - minced
2 cups of water
2 cups of UHT/fresh milk
3 tablespoon plain flour
1 cube chicken stock
2 tablespoon butter or oil
Salt & pepper to taste

Ini ler shitake mushroom
How to:
Heat the butter / oil in a pot. Saute the minced garlic until fragrant.  Add in flour to make a roux i.e "fry" the flour until golden  While stirring, add in water, milk  and chicken stock and bring to boil.  Put in the mushroom and simmer until the mushroom is tender.  Season with salt & black pepper and you are done. Pour the soup into a blender & blitz for 10 seconds. Now the soup is ready to be served.  ~kd~

Making the "roux".. brown sket lagi..

T for Tiramisu

Lepas cerita pasal coffee machine , kita guna plak the same coffee to make some dessert.  Here's a simple, delicious, fool  (yes, i mean fool..dumb...even a 5 year old can do this..haha) proof recipe for my favourite dessert ~ TIRAMISU.

 Ingredients
2 cups of espresso
Savoiardi biscuits a.k.a. ladies fingers
250 ml mascarpone cheese or philladephia cream cheese
250 ml thickened cream
1/2 cup sugar
Cocoa powder

Beat cream cheese until light & fluffy. In a separate bowl, beat cream & sugar until stiff.  Fold in both cream cheese and cream together. Spread some on a cake tin.  Dip the biscuits in espresso & arrange on the creamed cake tin. Layer the cream+cheese mixture on top of the biscuits. Repeat as necessary.  Finally, sprinkle the top with cocoa powder.  Refrigerate for at least 4 hours for the cream+cheese to set. Cut & enjoy ~kd~

Melbourne Visitors Guide : Part 2

-Cont'd-

Driving around Melbourne (except for the CBD) is easy. They are right-hand drivers. Malaysia's driving license is generally accepted although some car rental companies insist on a translation of the driving license. Do adhere to the speed limits as one of Victoria's main income is from traffic offences fines!

Hire a car
From my research and experience, East Coast Car Rental (www.eastcoastcarrentals.com.au) offers the best rate in town.  You can either pick up your car at Melbourne Airport or Melbourne CBD. If you do not have your own GPS, you can also add on to your car hire package here.

Not to be missed Phillip Island - 1 day

Phillips Island is located about 1.5 hours (drive) away from Melbourne. Be sure to reach the San Remo bridge for pelican feeding daily @ 12.00 noon.  Other attractions:
  • Amaze-n- Things - Kids will love this place (www.amazenthings.com.au)
  • Phillips Island Grand Prix Circuit Visitors Centre - Try Go Karting here.  (www.phillipislandcircuit.com.au)
  • Panny's Chocolate Factory - See how chocolates are made. Free tasting. (www.phillipislandchocolatefactory.com.au)
  • Koala Conservation Centre - Koalas are sleepyheads.  They are always asleep up on the gumtrees. Not easy to spot 'em.
  • Churchill Island - Farm animals, sheep shearing...don't expect too much though.
  • The Nobbies - Watch seagulls & seals (if you are lucky).  Do this last as its close to the Penguin Parade.
The highlight of Phillips Island ( I would say, the highlight to my Melbourne trip) is none other than their Penguin Parade.  Fairy  Penguins are unique to Australia.  They arrive at sunset, 365 nights a year.  Be sure to check their estimated arrival time at  www.penguins.org.au.  and arrive about 1 hour earlier, so that you can get the best viewing spot.  Tickets costs AUD22.60 (A) / AUD11.60 (C) / AUD56.50 (F =2A+2C) for the general ticket.  Or alternatively you can buy 3 park tickets covering the Koala Conservation Centre, Churchill Island and the Penguin Parade (AUD38.40 (A) / AUD19.20 (C) / AUD96 (F)).  I've tried both the general and premium seats and I find that the general seat is good enough (maybe even better).  You can actually see the cute penguins emerged from the sea! Oh! Don't forget your jacket / windbreaker as the sea breeze can be quite cold.
The fairy penguins

Franskton  & Mornington Peninsular - 1 day
These are seaside towns, located about 1.5 hours from Melbourne (yup, same route as Phillips Island). From 26 December to April each year, you can watch amazing sand sculptures @ Franskton Waterfront.  They are carved by professional sand sculpture artists from around the world.

Next, head to Mornington Peninsula:
  • Get lost @ Enchanted Maze (www.enchantedmaze.com.au). Interesting 3D indoor maze, hedge maze, tube slides and giant puzzles.
  • Strawberry picking (Nov - April) @ Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm (www.sunnyridge.com.au).  Don't miss their strawberry sorbet...yummyyyyy!!!  Not adviseable to go if its rainy as the quality of the strawberries deteriorates after rain (plus, its muddy!)
Their Strawberry Parfait is superb!!

Wilsons Promontory National Park - 2 days
If you have the luxury of time, may I suggest camping at Wilsons Prom.  Wilsons Prom is located in the Gipplsand region, 157 km Southeast of Melbourne.   That's about 3 hours drive. It is in fact the southernmost tip of Victoria.  I personally have never been to Wilsons Prom but looking from its website, the place looks spectacular.  A friend of mine who loves camping at Wilsons Prom recommends going to the iconic Squeaky Beach..yes, the sand squeaks when you walk on it!  For info on camping grounds, try check out their website www.visitpromcountry.com.au. About 30 minutes from Wilsons Prom is Venus Bay, famous for its pipis picking (a type of clam). You can just dig the pipis on the beach but first you have to purchase a license online from the Department of Primary Industries (www.dpi.vic.gov.au/fisheries/recreational-fishing/fishing-licence).  A 2-day license costs only AUD6 per adult. Sounds fun?
